Google this awesome band – they are friends of Ms. Greenwood and they are coming to IRC on April 14th at 1:30 to perform! Guitar club and Choir are performing two pieces each…with the band! The entire school is also learning the chorus to “Little Log Cabin” and the Grade 5 and 6 students will be singing an O’Shraves song in French. IRC parents – come if you’re free!

“Can you name a composer?”…
..”Me!” Focusing on writing note names, rhythms, tempo, and dynamics…IRC students are composing!
Sharing Music From Home
This week IRC students were invited to “share music from home.” They played piano and violin, showed off recorders and homemade instruments, rocked the guitar and drums, demonstrated how to play rhythms on a piece of paper, and sang their hearts out. Talented young spirit celebrated by respectful audience appreciation.
Back to Basics
After our creative improv show we’re now working on rhythm and note reading …with a little composition, of course.
IRC Improv Night, Stage A
IRC Improv Night had Improv Troupe on Stage B and Grades 3-6 classes performing Music Improv on Stage A. The students wrote all the music, but none was written down. There was an iPad DJ, a student conductor, graphic scores, music to silent acting, and many more creative, brave ideas. Well done, team!
IRC Improv Night was amazing
IRC Improv Night featured the Improv Troupe and they were brilliant. We also performed this past week at ArtsFest. Here are some pics of the students in action….
Recorder apology note
Grade 2 and 2/3 parents, I am sorry for the squeaks and noise but your children are reading music! And owning it.

For the IRC carol sing-a-long/PJ Day, Room 204 composed and performed their four-part ostinato in a jazz carol arrangement. Room 206 taught the school to sing “Sing Noel” and accompanied us on mallet instrument.
