Concert Success
Our spring concert was beyond amazing and I thank all of my colleagues and students for making it so. Some lyrics were made even more beautiful as we all mourned an IRC student’s passing- “It was, for awhile, a perfect life.”
Twitter Goals
My students and I are setting performance goals for our upcoming concert. Check out @msfrasermusic for our tweets.🎵
Self-Composed
IRC Grades 1-6 students are (almost) done composing their pieces for our May 2nd concert entitled, Self-Composed. It will be an evening of all original, student-written music! 6:00-6:45 will be grades 1-3 performing and 6:45-7:00 will be grades 4-6. We are working tirelessly. See above.
Royal Wood Composition Club
Thanks to fellow educator, Doug Friesen, some of my students are composing a song with Royal Wood!
Also, disco balls are fun.
Macbeth
On April 23rd, Shakespeare in Action is coming to present Macbeth to IRC’s grades 3-6. We’re ready. The students brought me to tears with their in-class scene performances.
French Cafe
Ms Greenwood organized another fabulous French Cafe and the Grade 5/6s and I provided the musical entertainment. Guitars, ukuleles, mallet instruments, and recorders playing French melodies. Magnifique!
esme festival
On March 1st, IRC’s Guitar Club participated in the yearly esme (expanding success in music education) festival. We performed and jammed like pros! A big thank you to our guitar Dads, Kaleb and Michael.
Composing with singer/song writer, Joe Lapinski
Constant composing at IRC these days- creating melodies, intros, lyrics, accompaniment parts, chords, rhythms, and arrangements in songs for our upcoming spring show. Joe Lapinski spent two full days with us and his expertise in songwriting helped move us closer to our song writing goals. Feeling lucky. Thanks, Joe!
Music mends minds concert
On Jan. 30th IRC’s Kindergartens, Junior Choir, Guitar Club, room 202, and Grade 6 band took the stage. Our wonderful MCs, Audrey and Adam, explained how music learning may strengthen our mental stability. I was so proud of us. Good work, team, and thanks to all!!
