September ease
I only had to learn 49 new names (JKs) this year – maybe my easiest September yet (I’ve taught in four different provinces. Lots of kids!!). IRC is definitely one of my favourite schools ever – amazing students, community, and staff!
Here are the Grade 2/3s on a very hot day listening to Yo yo Ma play Bach and some juniors showing their genuine excitement about clapping sixteenth notes in rhythms cards.
Music by the Lake
Music kids in grade 6-8, please come to Music By The Lake! This was my third year and I loved making incredible music with colleagues and my student orchestra. And the sunsets!!
Concert Success
Our spring concert was beyond amazing and I thank all of my colleagues and students for making it so. Some lyrics were made even more beautiful as we all mourned an IRC student’s passing- “It was, for awhile, a perfect life.”
Twitter Goals
My students and I are setting performance goals for our upcoming concert. Check out @msfrasermusic for our tweets.🎵
Self-Composed
IRC Grades 1-6 students are (almost) done composing their pieces for our May 2nd concert entitled, Self-Composed. It will be an evening of all original, student-written music! 6:00-6:45 will be grades 1-3 performing and 6:45-7:00 will be grades 4-6. We are working tirelessly. See above.
Royal Wood Composition Club
Thanks to fellow educator, Doug Friesen, some of my students are composing a song with Royal Wood!
Also, disco balls are fun.
Macbeth
On April 23rd, Shakespeare in Action is coming to present Macbeth to IRC’s grades 3-6. We’re ready. The students brought me to tears with their in-class scene performances.
French Cafe
Ms Greenwood organized another fabulous French Cafe and the Grade 5/6s and I provided the musical entertainment. Guitars, ukuleles, mallet instruments, and recorders playing French melodies. Magnifique!
esme festival
On March 1st, IRC’s Guitar Club participated in the yearly esme (expanding success in music education) festival. We performed and jammed like pros! A big thank you to our guitar Dads, Kaleb and Michael.
